Gennady Petrov is beeing asked to help Bank Rossiya with a loan’s reimbursement

Phone conversation between Gennady Petrov and Mikhail Mironov (further details unknown), recorded on  July 2, 2007 in the frame of the Troika – “Tambovskaya” gang case in Spain. Gennady Petrov is one of the main suspects of money laundering and a criminal gang’s involvement and is being wanted by Spain.

During the conversation, Mikhail Mironov (further details unknown) reports to Petrov that he will have a meeting with “Klishin from bank Rossiya” (former deputy president of the managing board, since 2018 – president of the managing board of bank Rossiya). Klishin will ask Mironov about reimbursement of 10 million USD loan by the company Ultra. The company Ultra is unrelated with Petrov, neither with Mironov. Yet Petrov knows the owners and can convince them to speak to the bank, because anyway Klishin will ask for help.

In Russia, Petrov was prosecuted and arrested in the 90ths for racketeering in the frame of Tambov-Malyshev gang case together with Alexander Malyshev, Sergey Kuzmin, Leonid Khristoforov and, among others, Valery Ob’edkov – a policeman who used his service weapon for raid attacks. Also crossbow for shooting at live targets was seized during searches (see indictment on the TBCA). At Petrov’s office of Petrodin company cash in plastic bug was found on February 9, 1993. However, during the trial victims of raids by Malyshev and Petrov changed their testimonies, only Malyshev was convicted for illegal weapon’s possession, Petrov was acquitted. Former Petrov’s associate, Japanese gambling businessman said that Petrov paid a bribe.

For background, see also Swiss counter-intelligence  report: “Coperation between FSB and organized crime”, 2007.

Officially a professional boxer, Petrov is presented as just high rank businessman and even an FSB agent, close to Russian leadership, by his lawyers and some media.

The conversations recorded during the investigation in Spain show that Petrov uses his top level connections in Russia on the daily bases and he is a troubles solver. Thus, Petrov, with help of the FSB general Sergey Korolev, helps to appoint Alexander Bastrykin the “chief of this new investigative sh***” – means, head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, supposed to tackle serious crimes. Deputy head of the Moscow’s branch of the Investigative committee was convicted in 2015: then after a shooting in the centre of Moscow it appeared that he was on a payroll by the crime lord Shakro.
