Gennady Petrov, Tambov gang, discussing “kickbacks” to banks and also customs

Phone conversation between Gennady Petrov and Andrey Volnushkin (further details unknown), recorded on January 30, 2008 in the frame of the Troika – “Tambovskaya” gang case in Spain.Volnushkin reports to Petrov that a certain Seva does not manage to get a loan from a bank. Volnushkin comments that anyway, banks now want guarantees and “kick backs” [timing 03:00]. Volnushkin also discusses his problems with customs which were solved due to Petrov’s personal conversation with the customs officers [timing 07:00]. “Because they now understand whom they are dealing with”. Petrov and Volnushkin talk about a fuel exportation.

London’s High Court of Justice decided that VTB – Russian Sate controlled bank – concealed that it gave a loan to Malofeev in exchange of a kick back paid to a company incorporated in Belize.

As for Petrov’s activity, officially a professional boxer, Petrov is presented as just a high rank Russian businessman and even an FSB agent, close to Russian leadership, by his lawyers and some media.

Gennady Petrov is one of the main suspects of money laundering and a criminal gang’s involvement – Troika case – and is being wanted by Spain.

In Russia, Petrov was prosecuted and arrested in the 90ths for racketeering in the frame of Tambov-Malyshev gang case together with Alexander Malyshev, Sergey Kuzmin, Leonid Khristoforov and, among others, Valery Ob’edkov – a policeman who used his service weapon for raid attacks. Also crossbow for shooting at live targets was seized during searches (see indictment on the TBCA). At Petrov’s office of Petrodin company cash in plastic bags was found on February 9, 1993. However, during the trial victims of raids by Malyshev and Petrov changed their testimonies, only Malyshev was convicted for illegal weapon’s possession, Petrov was acquitted. Former Petrov’s associate, Japanese gambling businessman said that Petrov paid a bribe.

The conversations recorded during the investigation in Spain show that Petrov uses his top level connections in Russia on the daily bases and he is a troubles solver. Thus, Petrov, with help of the FSB general Sergey Korolev, helps to appoint Alexander Bastrykin the “chief of this new investigative sh***” – means, head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, supposed to tackle serious crimes.
