Shakro-Kalashov Case: Tapes 1

Zakhariy Kalashov (Shakro Molodoi)

An inquiry into alleged corruption at the Moscow branch of the Russian Investigative Committee has been opened following the attempted raider seizure of the Moscow restaurant, Elements, by the criminal gang of Zakhari Kalashov – aka Shakro Molodoi, a crime lord from Russia. In 2010, Shakro Molodoi was convicted in Spain to nine years in prison and fined over $22 million for money laundering and racketeering. In October 2014, he was deported to Russia where he was sentenced in March 2018 to nine years and ten months in prison for extortion.

Two of his mobsters were killed in the shooting near Elements restaurant on 15 December 2015.

The inquiry includes wiretaps of the Moscow branch of the Russian Investigative Committee officials and a number of documents filed by the Moscow police. Some of the documents were classified at the beginning and declassified in 2016.

The inquiry and wiretaps demonstrate involvement of the officials of the Moscow branch of the Russian Investigative Committee into bribery and whitewashing of Kalashov’s crime group.

The reference from the operative wiretapping (“surveillance by means of audiofixation”). The wiretapping took place between 23 December 2015 and 15 July 2016 “in the territory of the Moscow region”.

Conversation between the following persons was wiretapped:

  • MAKSIMENKO Mikhail Ivanovich, Head of the Main Directorate for Interdepartmental Cooperation and Internal Affairs (GUMVSB) of the Moscow branch of the Russian Investigative Committee;
  • LAMONOV Aleksandr Nikolaevich, Head of the Directorate for Internal Affairs (GUMVSB);
  • NIKANDROV Denis Vladimirovich, First Deputy Head of the Main Investigation Directorate of the Moscow branch of the Russian Investigative Committee.

According to the inquiry, “Due to the results of wiretapping, it is established that MAKSIMENKO and LAMONOV – through using their connections in the Main Investigation Directorate of the Moscow branch of the Russian Investigative Committee and for financial remuneration – are trying to counter investigation into a number of criminal cases filed in relation to the raider seizure of Elements restaurant (Moscow, Rochdelskaya str. 15) on behalf of Zakhari Kalashov, a leading figure in the criminal world of Russia (aka Shakro Molodoi, a crime lord).
